Online Sessions & Confidentiality

In line with the Government’s Guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK I now only provide online sessions.

As with face to face sessions, the confidentiality agreement still applies. I use an online application named Zoom as it provides end-to-end encryption so information in transit cannot be intercepted therefore confidentiality is protected, however  I am not responsible or liable for the online security or breach of security of the online platform we use for sessions. If you wish to use a different platform, simply let me know.

The sessions will not be recorded and will not be shared with anyone else (via phone or any other device or means) without a mutual agreement and a consent form being signed.

Confidentiality

Maintaining confidentiality is one of my key priorities. Personal information is not discussed or shared without your permission unless there are circumstances where I would need to liaise with other professionals to help you or protect your (and/or others) health, safety and wellbeing.

I comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR 2016).  I will only use your personal information to support the provision of the service you have requested and will not share your details outside of the scope of our contract.

Our Agreement

I offer an initial 15 minute telephone consultation, free of charge,  which is a chance for us to discuss your concerns and needs in detail and consider what type of support would best meet these, including life coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, EMDR or other forms of support outside of my remit.

If we agree to work together we will have weekly sessions throughout the duration of the psychological therapy.

This agreement is a mutual commitment and it is important that you do your best to attend your sessions unless you are:

  • too ill or have to deal with an emergency
  • on planned holiday

Similarly I will commit to be present on a weekly basis for your sessions.

If you are unable to keep your appointment it is useful to contact me as soon as possible, preferably 48hr prior to your session in order for the cancellation to be free of charge.

Not a crisis management service

I cannot offer a crisis management service.

For critical events between the sessions please contact your general practitioner or if out of hours please contact NHS 111 for urgent advice and help, or 999 for life threatening emergencies.

I am not available for advice between appointments unless by prior arrangement.
